The classic winter warmer gets a healthy makeover

What’s better on a cold evening than a warming cup of cocoa? A chocolatey treat that’s dairy and refined sugar-free, that’s what. Upgrade to this rich and satisfying recipe from Imbibery London.

Serves 1
2 cups non-dairy milk (we love coconut or almond milk)
1-3 teaspoons of cacao powder
Pinch of coconut sugar or 1/8 tsp date or agave syrup
1 tsp lucuma powder
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Pinch Himalayan sea salt

Method
It’s an easy one – mix all the ingredients in a saucepan and stir over a low heat and enjoy your superfood hot chocolate. For a richer hot chocolate, add more cacao powder and if you want something a little sweeter, add more agave or date syrup or coconut sugar.
