Teas that please

Teas is just as good at hydrating you as water, says a recent study from the Tea Advisory Panel. It found that having four mugs of tea a day – which is just above the national average – keeps you as hydrated as sipping water, and has no negative side effects.

‘It’s a common misconception that drinking tea can increase the risk of dehydration because of the caffeine content,’ says Dr Carrie Ruxton, a dietician and author of the study. ‘This new study proves that there is absolutely no truth behind the story.’

  1. what great news – had a ‘health m.o.t’ at my local fitness centre recently and came out excellent on everything, fitness levels, bmi etc, but was told to cut down on my tea intake. I drink nettle/peppermint/green and black teas, i love my tea and don’t touch coffee. I was told however to cut down on my tea intake and up my water intake even though my m.o.t showed optimum levels of everything, i was quite puzzled as i could understand it if there was a problem somewhere but there wasn’t. It just a standard ‘one size fits all answer that we should all drink more water’ therefore i am really pleased to see the above report in your magazine. Thank you.
