Shaping up with Debenhams

Reader Suzanne Hinchliffe has a mission – to get fit and work towards running a marathon. With support from Debenhams’ fantastic new Sport & Leisure range she’s dedicated to changing her life.

‘The day of the marathon – an early morning start. To give me the much needed energy to get through a 13-mile run, a breakfast of porridge and bananas were required. The final seconds tick by and then we’re off. I set off a good steady pace, clearly all the training is paying off. After about six miles, still feeling strong. The new Asics trainers (donated by Debenhams) are a godsend, they are definitely a great running shoe. My feet feel comfortable and the impact on the ground is not hurting my legs. Ten miles down three to go – and a big hill ahead of me. My right ankle starts to play up a little but I push through the pain and remember the charity I am running for and the people who have pushed me. I can’t believe it 12 miles and it’s all down hill. The atmosphere from the crowd is amazing. With a spurt of adrenaline I sprint to the finish line. And burst into tears. We raised £539 for the MS Society.’

  1. Well done to Suzanne, such a good effort! I find it so hard to get out and go running when it’s so cold outside, but it’s so good to have a goal to work towards, especially if it’s for something as positive as raising money for a charity.
