Healthy writer, Hannah Fox, wants to tone up, get fit, and lose a few pounds with the help of Maxitone and I.N.C Space fitness centre
It seems I’m back in the saddle after getting back from holiday a week and a half ago. Having put on 3lbs of bratwurst, sauerkraut and strudel (!), I was keen to really hit the gym and eat healthily so I could get back down to my pre-holiday weight and tone. I’m pleased to say I’ve already managed that, plus an extra pound on top of that. While my aim in this challenge isn’t so much about losing weight, it’s a good indication that the work I’m doing is beginning to pay off. I certainly feel more toned through my legs, bum and tum, although there’s still a way to go.
My hockey season ended on Saturday (we won our last game 3-2 and I was marking the hockey equivalent of Usain Bolt so was exhausted by the end of it) so it’s going to be all about my gym workouts from now on, and Jacqueline from I.N.C. Space is keen to really build up my fitness and stamina (see below for my fitness plan). This week I’ve managed two early morning sessions, where I’m out of the house by 6.15am and in the gym by 7.15am. It sounds ludicrously early (and it is really!) but it means I can leave at the end of the day and go straight home. What’s more, I’ve actually felt really energised on the days I do the morning sessions. I simply have a banana and some natural yoghurt before I leave the house so I’m not too hungry when I’m in the gym, and then have a Definity shake straight after my workout to help recovery. Once I’m at my desk, I have a small bowl of porridge to keep me going until lunch. Let’s hope I can keep this up….!
Hannah’s workout plan:
- Run on treadmill for 35 minutes (speed between 9km and 11km per hour)
- Stepper for 10 minutes
- Gym ball – 35 straight sit ups, 50 side crunch sit ups
- Two sets of 10 shoulder presses – holding 4kg weights in each hand
- Two sets of 12 full press-ups
- Two sets of 10 lateral pull-downs
- Two sets of 10 bicep curls
- Two sets of 10 tricep dips off the side of a bench
